South Carolina Aquarium

Caw Caw Interpretive Center
This 654-acre park highlights Charleston’s heritage, including the significance of successful rice cultivation technology brought to America by Africans. Environmental education classrooms and over seven miles of beautiful trails through nine different wildlife habitats, with trailside exhibits. Wednesday and Saturday morning bird walks. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Gate admission: $1 per person.
Charles Pinckney National Historic Site
Free admission. The National Park Service preserves a remnant of Founding Father Charles Pinckney’s plantation, Snee Farm. Charles Pinckney was a principal architect and signer of the U.S. Constitution. An 1828 Lowcountry cottage serves as museum and visitor center. 20-minute orientation film & ˝ mile walking trail.
Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site
Open daily 9am-5pm. Visitor Center, museum, gift shop and history trail, 17th century trade ship replica Adventure, native animal zoo, informal gardens, exhibits and more. Learn about and experience South Carolinas original settlement.
Folly Beach Fishing Pier
The Edwin S. Taylor Folly Beach Fishing Pier stretches 1,045 feet into the Atlantic Ocean. The second longest on the east coast, the pier offers not only great saltwater fishing and spectacular views, but also tournaments, special events, and dining.
Isle of Palms County Park
Isle of Palms County Park offers beautiful ocean frontage with lifeguards on duty seasonally along a beachfront designated swimming area. Enjoy other amenities including restrooms, showers, picnic area, and chair and umbrella rentals. Dogs must be leashed at all times.
James Island County Park
Daily: May-Labor Day: 8am-8pm; September, October, March, and April: 8am-Sunset; November-February: 8am-5pm. A 643-acre park with a variety of recreational opportunities including crabbing and fishing from floating docks along tidal creeks and lagoons, biking, pedal boats, and picnicking. Splash Zone waterpark open seasonally. 50-foot climbing wall. Meeting facility and vacation cottages available. Gate admission: $1 per person.
Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park
Located at the foot of the Ravenel bridge, featuring a new visitor center/reception facility, Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Pavilion, a war memorial and state-of-the-art playground. Adjacent to the Mount Pleasant Pier.
Mullet Hall Equestrian Center
A host site for a variety of competitive equestrian events. The Mullet Hall Equestrian Center also offers approximately 20 miles of riding trails throughout a beautiful 738-acre site. Mullet Hall does not offer horses for riding, riding lessons, rentals, or boarding.
North Charleston Wannamaker County Park
Daily: November-February: 8am-5pm; March, April, September, and October: 8am-sunset; May-Labor Day: 8am-8pm. This 1,015-acre park has two playgrounds, a large play hill, picnic sites with grills, open meadows, paved trails, and meeting facilities, as well as a Park Center with snack bar and bicycle and pedal boat rentals. Whirlin Waters waterpark open seasonally. Gate admission: $1 per person.
Palmetto Islands County Park
Daily: May-Labor Day: 8am-8pm; September, October, March, and April: 8am-Sunset; November-February: 8am-5pm. Tucked within lush vegetation, this park has marsh islands, a 50’ observation tower, the Big Toy playground, Nature Island educational trail, an off-leash dog area, covered shelters, open meadows, and bicycle and pedal boat rentals. Splash Island waterpark open seasonally. Gate admission: $1 per person.
Shem Creek Park
Shem Creek Park in Mount Pleasant is located off Coleman Boulevard in close proximity to the Charleston Harbor. A float dock is available for mooring day trippers, or board a water taxi. Take a leisurely stroll or welcome the shrimp Trawlers along the long boardwalk.
The Center for Birds of Prey
The Center for Birds of Prey is a unique year-round learning environment in which visitors have the opportunity to observe birds of prey in a natural setting, watch flight demonstrations, and learn about the role these birds play in our environment. Open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 10am – 5pm. Guided walking tours at 10:30am and 2pm, flight demonstrations at 11:30am and 3pm.
